46-15-1  …Illusions, God gave me the grace not to have A SINGLE ONE when entering Carmel. I found the religious life to be exactly as I had imagined it, no sacrifice astonished me and yet, as you know, dear Mother, my first steps met with more thorns than roses! Yes, suffering opened wide its arms to me and I threw myself into them with love. I had declared at the feet of Jesus-Victim, in the examination preceding my Profession, what I had come to Carmel for: “I came to save souls and especially to pray for priests.” When one wishes to attain a goal, one must use the means; Jesus made me understand that it was through suffering that He wanted to give me souls, and my attraction for suffering grew in proportion to its increase. This was my way for five years; exteriorly nothing revealed my suffering which was all the more painful since I alone was aware of it. 2-15-2

46-16-1  …Yes, Papa's three years of martyrdom appear to me as the most lovable, the most fruitful of my life; I wouldn't exchange them for all the ecstasies and revelations of the saints. My heart overflows with gratitude when I think of this inestimable treasure which must cause a holy jealousy to the angels of the heavenly court. 2-16-3

46-24-1   I do not hold in contempt beautiful thoughts which nourish the souls and unite it with God; but for a long time I have understood that we must not depend on them and even make perfection consist in receiving many spiritual lights. The most beautiful thoughts are nothing without good works. 16-24-5

46-24-2 16 To all three of us:
“Don't believe that when I'm in heaven I'll let ripe plums fall into your mouths. This isn't what I had, nor what I desired. You will perhaps have great trials, but I'll send you lights which will make you appreciate and love them. You will be obliged to say like me: “ Lord, You fill us with joy with all the things You do for us.” (Psalm 91:5.)

46-24-3 4  Sister Marie of the Sacred Heart told her that when she died the angels would come to her in the company of Our Lord, that she would see them resplendent with light and beauty:
“All these images do me no good; I can nourish myself on nothing but the truth. This is why I've never wanted any visions. We can't see, here on earth, heaven, the angels, etc., just as they are. I prefer to wait until after my death.”

46-24-4 5  “I often pray to the saints without receiving any answers;but the more deaf they are to my prayers, the more I love them.”
 I asked:“Why?”
“Because I've had a great desire not to see God and the saints, and to remain in the night of faith, than others have desired to see and understand.
